146th IOC Session ARISF Supports the IOC’s “Fit for the Future” Vision

The Association of IOC Recognised International Sports Federations (ARISF) welcomes the strategic direction adopted during the 146th IOC Session in Lausanne, Switzerland, from 24 to 25 June 2026, under the theme “Fit for the Future”, reaffirming the International Olympic Committee’s commitment to ensuring that the Olympic Movement remains strong, relevant and impactful for future generations.

ARISF President Dr Raffaele Chiulli attended the 146th IOC Session reflecting the important role that IOC-Recognised International Federations continue to play in shaping the future of the Olympic Movement.

Following an extensive consultation process involving stakeholders from across the Olympic Movement, including International Federations, National Olympic Committees, Athletes, Organising Committees and other partners, the strategy establishes a shared vision centred around five key themes: Athletes, Olympic Games, Olympic Movement, Olympic Impact, and Engagement and Revenue.

For ARISF and its Member Federations, the commitments relating to the Olympic Movement are particularly significant. The strategy recognises the importance of clearly defining the roles and responsibilities of Olympic Movement stakeholders, strengthening collaboration through greater transparency and accountability, and reinforcing the principles of autonomy, ethics and good governance.

The emphasis on governance reflects values that are fundamental to ARISF and its Members. The commitment to strengthening the implementation of the Basic Universal Principles of Good Governance through enforceable standards and capacity-building initiatives further supports the continuous development of International Federations and the wider sports community.

ARISF also welcomes the reaffirmation of the principles of solidarity, neutrality and peaceful coexistence, recognising their essential role in preserving the universality of sport and enabling athletes from all National Olympic Committees, together with the Refugee Olympic Team, to participate in the Olympic Games.

The strategy’s objective of fostering a more cohesive and collaborative Olympic ecosystem reinforces the importance of constructive dialogue between all stakeholders. As the collective voice of all IOC-Recognised International Federations, ARISF remains committed to contributing to this shared vision by supporting its Members, encouraging the exchange of best practices, and promoting collaboration across the Olympic Movement.

ARISF is actively working with the IOC, as discussed at the recent meeting, in Lausanne, between ARISF President, Dr Raffaele Chiulli and the IOC President, Mrs Kirsty Coventry. Following this meeting, additional consultations have been done with the IOC Sport Director, Mr Pierre Ducrey, which will be followed by a webinar dedicated to the ARISF Members.

ARISF looks forward to working alongside the IOC and fellow Olympic Movement stakeholders as the “Fit for the Future” commitments are implemented in the lead-up to 2032, helping to strengthen sport’s contribution to society while ensuring the continued growth and integrity of the Olympic Movement.
