ARISF congratulates the World Squash and Katriona Ross on WADA Athlete Council appointment

The Association of IOC Recognised International Sports Federations (ARISF) warmly congratulates its member, World Squash and Ms Katriona Ross (Scotland) following her appointment as a Group 3 member of the World Anti-Doping Agency’s (WADA) Athlete Council for the 2026–2028 term.

The appointment was confirmed during the first meeting of WADA’s Athlete Council in 2026, held virtually on 21 January, following a public call for Group 3 candidates launched in May 2025. Ms Ross is one of three newly appointed athletes selected to contribute to the Council, which plays a key role in ensuring that athletes’ voices are fully represented across all anti-doping matters at international level.

Group 3 members are appointed by an independent panel to address skills and diversity needs within the Athlete Council, complementing representatives nominated by the Olympic Movement and International Federations. Ms Ross’s appointment reflects both her personal commitment and World Squash’s ongoing dedication to good governance, clean sport and strong athlete representation.

ARISF also congratulates Ms Zena Wooldridge, President of World Squash, who recently joined the ARISF Executive Board. Together with Ms Ross’s appointment to the WADA Athlete Council, this represents a remarkable achievement for World Squash and demonstrates its active and exemplary engagement within the international sports community.

The representation of an ARISF member federation within the WADA Athlete Council is of particular significance for ARISF. It reinforces the important role played by IOC Recognised International Federations in contributing to a transparent and athlete-centred anti-doping system and further strengthens ARISF’s voice within the international sporting landscape.
